It can re-create a lot of the atmosphere at a wedding – probably more effectively than a collection of still images in a wedding photo album. 

How?

The photographs in the album or photo gallery are usually placed in the same order as the wedding took place - the first photo usually captures the start of the wedding and the last photo usually captures the end of the wedding. 
For example, the first photo might be of the bride arriving at the church or other place of worship and the last photo might be of the wedding guests celebrating at the wedding reception venue.
The photographs between these photos might show various scenes from the wedding: the bride’s father escorting her down the aisle, the bride and groom exchanging wedding rings, the bride and groom walking back up the aisle together as husband and wife, etc.
When the photographs are viewed in this sequential order it captures some of  the action and the atmosphere at the wedding. If there’s a music track with the wedding photo gallery this also helps to capture the atmosphere.

But it can’t capture all of the action or the entire atmosphere at the wedding, in the way that a professional wedding video shot by a professional videographer can capture it.
