Photography in web design – header images

This photography in web design article looks at the advantages of creating a dynamic header image, which is a photo., usually at the top of a website or blog,  that changes whenever a new page is visited.

The main advantage of creating a dynamic header image is that it might encourage visitors to visit more pages on a website or blog, in order to view the photographs.
Obviously, this also makes it more likely that they will view more of the products, services, blog posts or articles that are available on the website or blog.
However, the photographs have to be interesting, they have to make the visitor feel that it was worthwhile visiting these pages in order to view the photographs that are on it.
Also, it’s important to tell the visitor about the photographs that are available.
If they don’t know that the photographs are available, they won’t be motivated to view the pages where they are available, which means that they won’t be motivated to view the products, services, articles or posts that are available.
An alternative to a dynamic header system is a system, often based on javascript, whereby the photographs are constantly changing whichever web page or blog post is visited.
However, this doesn’t motivate visitors to visit more pages on the website or blog.
In a future article I’ll explain how to create dynamic header images, and how to explain to visitors that they are available.
